Edmond is a vitally important point on an expanded passenger rail route to Newton, Kansas. Many people who live in Edmond work in Oklahoma City. Due to the population base here, University, and community wealth, Edmond would be a popular origination point for Oklahoma Amtrak travelers that today must drive to Oklahoma City to catch the Heartland Flyer. Edmond could also benefit from commuter rail services beginning in Guthrie and running as far south as Norman.
